Well we tried Skandagiri back in 2015 times and it was then banned due to some illegal activities happening there after that the Forest department banned the trek and recently they opened it and being a mainstream trek I avoided it for a long time but due to covid and limited movement around we planed for a early morning sunrise trek to Skandagiri in August 2020..
The Trek has to be booked with forest department'a online website and we booked it on a sunday, we started at 3am from home and reached the base at 4am and started the trek. I actually underestimated the trek and its actually a big one of 7+kms total up and down and offers some beautiful misty and scenic views till the top and in monsoon the grasslands and greenery made it beautiful with constant drizzling around...
Took around 2 hrs to reach the peak and offered beautiful things and the view from the top is mind blowing with others peaks around ( Nandi hills, channagiri etc).... I guess 4am to 10am will be the perfect time to trek here and after 10am might get hot in summer months..
There is a old temple and a ruined fort at the top and we did witness the beautiful sunrise and after that the sky became blue and beautiful. ..
