The Dabaspet/Madugiri region of Tumkur is very famous for its forts and Hills.. This time we planned to trek the 7 tiered Ratnagiri fort and we started early morning 6am from Bangalore...We reached Ratnagiri around 9am after having a small breakfast break in a beautiful roadside hotel behind a beautiful lake..
Ratnagiri Fort is basically in AP as per state boundaries 2 kms from Karnataka border... Then we started the hike and Its a small hike of around 2 hrs up and down and its a beautiful fort without much humans around..Take enough water on sunny days and have a pleasant stay there...
This ruined historical Ratnagiri Fort is located in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh and very close to the Karnataka border. It was one of the forts of historic importance during the Pandyan and Chola Dynasties. Later it fell into the hands of Hyder Ali. It is also believed that after the fall of the Vijayanagara Empire, Allasani Peddana and around 500 Brahmin families settled at Ratnagiri.
I couldn't carry my DSLR and the pics were taken with my mobile so spare me for mediocre pics if any :)

Sarathy PB’s trek to Ratnagiri Fort is a delightful adventure. The scenic drive from Bangalore, the historical significance of the fort during the Pandyan and Chola Dynasties, and the tranquil surroundings make it a must-visit. Sarathy’s mobile photography captures the essence beautifully. A hidden gem near the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border!
