A Lovely Trek to Channarayana Durga and a drive to Bandipura

Channarayana Durga is one among the 9 durga's around Bangalore and offers a lovely medium trek and its special on monsoon months for greenery and fog and great in drier months for sunsets and sunrises..his stands out among other Bangalore treks by the magnificent strategic fort situated at a height of 3734 feet, bringing back the era of 17th century to life.  We chose a lovely noon to check out this fort so that we can witness some sunsets.... The whole trek took about 1 hr of climbing and 45 mins of descending and we spent about 3 hrs in the fort and the peak where there is a huge Indian flag is kept..

Its around 100 kms from Bangalore towards the Dobaspet to Madhugiri highway and initially offers some vertical climb which could be difficult for young kids or elder people... The Old ancient temples at the mid of the fort offers amazing sceneries and there is also couple of old lakes where water is stored on the top...

On a lovely winter month we head to this day trip to Channarayanadurga and the beauty was exploring the ancient structures and also reaching the peak full of mist...

Kings who ruled Madhugiri, who were not that popular, were the ones who originally built this fort.  The old structures that remain intact and few of the temples that are still there in the fort reminds us of the glory it held in the past.

The fort was built in the 17th century by a feudal lord called Chikkappa Gowda, who was the ruler of Madhugiri and the places surrounding it.  During the Medieval times, end number of battles was fought for the possession of this fort.

We witnessed amazing Sunset screens
